Abbey Wade is a full-time stay at home mom while her kids are in virtual school due to the pandemic. She is native to Lake Norman and has done so many cool things! She’s has been an actor (lived briefly in LA), kickboxing instructor, makeup artist…she runs a food focused lifestyle blog (she posted more actively before virtual learning began – it’s a good read nonetheless) and has written recipes and taken food photos for various companies (she *might* be starting a new Podcast soon too). She’s been the food and wine director and recipe provider for local businesses, and she writes what’s on her mind. Mostly she shares what speaks to her and what nourishes her insides. She has never dumbed anything down for a reader or for her children- she is real and authentic. Her philosophy is to follow your gut, trust your instincts and never settle for what doesn’t make you the best you that you can be.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have two kids – a 13 year old son, and a 9 year old daughter. I married my college sweetheart who still makes my heart thump.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I’ve lived many lives and worn many hats. I don’t plan on picking a lane anytime soon. I will always love anything that allows me to be creative and teach something to anyone who wants to learn. And I will never stop learning.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Lake Norman?*
Kindred!

Q: How long have you lived or worked in Lake Norman?*
I grew up in Davidson from age 2-17 when I left for college.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?*
Anguilla. They have this COVID shit down. And it was one of the most magnetic places I’ve ever been.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Stop questioning what you already know.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
To ride more horses.

Q: Do you have any pets? Tell us about them!
I have one very old and lumpy dog named Maggie. She’s almost 18 and has no idea where she is at any given point in time. We lost our other babe, Bailey last year. A grey tabby who liked eating my homemade bread and canned peas. She was our first baby and it was the first loss my children experienced. She was old, it was her time, and she was exquisite. I still miss her voice.

Q: If someone was visiting Lake Norman for the first time, what’s one thing you would tell them they HAVE to do here on their trip?
On a beautiful, warm day go have lunch or a sunset cocktail at Hello Sailor and don’t forget to feed the ducks. Be careful of the white one. She bites.

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?*
Oh lord I think everyone knows everything about me. I don’t know… that I have really unfortunate feet.

Q: What is your favorite pizza topping?
More cheese.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My husband and my kids. They teach me so much every single day and making them proud fuels me.

Q: Finally, what would be your #1 “wish list” feature for your dream house?
I’d really love a circus room.
