Brittany Calderon is originally from NE Ohio, part of the original rust belt of the United States. After enduring 29 long, bitter, icy winters she decided it was time to head south to the Sunshine State. Brittany spent nearly four years soaking up the sun, toes in the sand, and completely oblivious to how awesome the Lake Norman area is. She met her now-fiance in 2019 and after many trips to Charlotte, she figured out that this is where she would settle down and plant roots. Brittany: “Best decision I’ve ever made”.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My fiance and I have a blended family, two pre-teen girls and two fur babies. Neither of us are from the area so all of our immediate family is scattered, but we’ve made lots of friends that have turned into family.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I have been in Business Development amongst a few industries for over a decade. I love the excitement of cultivating relationships. Each industry is unique, therefore cracking the different types of management styles, learning the best way to interact with people and driving new revenue is a constant new day of cracking The Da Vinci Code.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Lake Norman?*
Port City Club is one of my top choices. For the life of me I will never understand how they serve meatballs that big and they’re never dry and always delicious. What an art!

Q: How long have you lived or worked in Lake Norman?*
I’ve lived in the Lake Norman area nearly a year, a year in March. I’ve worked here and really acquainted myself for 7 months.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?*
Bali, hands down.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Don’t take tomorrow for granted.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Pet an elephant

Q: Do you have any pets? Tell us about them!
We have two. We have a beautiful female Great Dane named Mars. She’s every bit of a dopey Dane, tall, clumsy, incredibly sweet. And a male Boxer named Ike. He’s more of our protector, he runs to investigate, Mars tries to figure out how to hide.

Q: If someone was visiting Lake Norman for the first time, what’s one thing you would tell them they HAVE to do here on their trip?
Rent a boat and explore the lake. The houses are beautiful and each one is a little different, there’s multiple lunch stop options, it’s a great way to spend a day.

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?*
I’m pretty introverted. I am as outgoing as it gets so it seems like an oxymoron, but I’m quite a homebody.

Q: What is your favorite pizza topping?
Black olives

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My fiance. He has been my biggest cheerleader from the day we met. We’re both pretty driven and successful in our own right, but with that it’s important that we can bounce ideas, motivate one another and create a new lens for one another we didn’t see prior. It’s something we are both truly grateful to have in our counterpart.

Q: Finally, what would be your #1 “wish list” feature for your dream house?
A serene and beautiful backyard space. We definitely found that.
