Laurel Shea is the bar manager and lead mixologist at Scratch Kitchen in Langtree! When she’s not experimenting with the latest idea that popped into her head for cocktails, you can usually find her at a local state park hiking the trails with her family and dogs!

Aside from her role at Ghostface Brewing, Laurel and her husband, Jeff, own The Micro Farm, growing microgreens and edible flowers out of their indoor warehouse in Statesville, NC. They are so passionate about bringing the freshest specialty produce to chefs in the Charlotte area!

 

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have two daughters Aelynn (5) and Aleera ( 7 months) and an amazing husband, Jeff!

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I am the lead mixologist at Scratch Kitchen by Ghostface Brewing! We are making a name for breweries in the cocktail scene. I enjoy trying new ways to mix flavors and add ingredients to make a unique cocktail experience you cannot get anywhere else!

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?*
San Pedro, Belize

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Always be yourself and to go with your gut- Hard work will always pay off!

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
To complete the Mountian to Sea Trail hike with my brother Cory! It is 1,175 miles long, beginning in the Great Smoky Mountains and ending in the Outer Banks of NC.

Q: Do you have any pets? Tell us about them!
Yes! I have two doggies, a lab mix named Mocha who loves to sleep and cuddle and a Rottie named Vulcan who has an endless supply of energy!

Q: If someone was visiting Lake Norman for the first time, what’s one thing you would tell them they HAVE to do here on their trip?
Visit some local hiking trails and of course spend a day on the lake!

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?*
I am terrified of heights!

Q: What is your favorite pizza topping?
Pepperoni and Banana Pepper

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My children, my mom, and especially my husband Jeff.

Q: Finally, what would be your #1 “wish list” feature for your dream house?
A house with a couple acres with some woods and a stream/creek for the kids and dogs to play in.
